Support Through Sport
Bringing the community together in the fight against Cancer.
What we do
Supporting local families is our number one aim. Offering a grant scheme is our way of giving back to the community. Click below to find out more.
We run our shop where we sell wide varieties of pre-loved sports gear. Please come and visit us at our location in Cosham High Street.
About FFC
Football for Cancer was created in 2008 and has grown from a single tournament into a charity that has raised over £1 million for local cancer charities and families affected by cancer. In 2019, we updated our name to Friends Fighting Cancer to reflect how we had grown from being just a football tournament into something much bigger.
As a local charity, we are able to act fast and provide much-needed funds via our Grant Scheme, often in less than 24 hours. We provide money directly to families to help alleviate the financial burden that coping with this disease can cause.
In 2015, we became an independent charity and also registered with both Companies House and the Charity Commission. This change allowed us to support local families by offering means-tested donations from £100 to £500 and, in exceptional cases, higher amounts.
Alongside our Grant Scheme, we now also offer:
Respite breaks at our holiday home located at Seal Bay in Selsey
A Grief Recovery Programme led by one of our trustees, Samantha Morrison
A food bank scheme, supporting a selection of local food banks through donations made by our participants
We have an established and growing community of participants, sponsors, and supporters who take part in our events and help raise awareness of Friends Fighting Cancer.
Since 2008, we have organised and hosted multiple football tournaments, one-off matches, countless raffles, bucket collections, walking events, boxing events, skydives, darts tournaments, and much more. In fact, if you like sport, we probably have an event for you!
We have a fantastic team of volunteers who organise and deliver our events throughout the year. Without them, and the continued support of our participants, supporters, and corporate sponsors, we simply would not be where we are today.
